The project is a combination of 2 functions: City School and City Housing – they are merged into one compact building. We propose to name it ‘Væksthuset’ as a statement for livability and as a metaphor for the pupils learning and growing in this house.

The establishment of City Housing and City School at Nørreport is part of the important strategy of revitalisation in Aarhus. The ‘Væksthuset’ aims to be a positive factor in the transformation of Nørreport and act as a generator for an active urban life. It´s ground-floor hosts a range of urban programs – café, sports facility and other shared spaces open to the city – overall this creates new opportunities for the corner and along the new light rail.

´Væksthuset’ fosters a combination of new users and actively contributes for the future of Nørreport neighborhood.
